Meet Our September 2017 Spotlight: Sara Lowell, M.A. CCC-SLP

I am delighted to announce DotCom Therapist, Ambassador and now our September Spotlight, Sara Lowell.  Sara goes above and beyond to work with school staff and therapists to make the onboarding process as smooth as possible.  In addition to supporting school therapists she is the ambassador for, she also gathers detailed information on her students to provide highly skilled speech and language evaluations. We are so proud to have Sara as a part of our team and thank her for being an amazing therapist, advocate and leader.

Let’s get to know Sara better:

1.) What made you want to become a speech therapist?

While in college, I tried different majors, but none of them seemed to keep me excited about learning. Finally, I found my passion in Communication Sciences and Disorders and was excited to know that I could make a difference one person at a time.

2.) What made you want to join the DotCom Therapy team?

Prior to DotCom Therapy, I was in a school setting but I wanted to be able to travel with my husband, who travels for his job, so I decided to switch to teletherapy. I started researching various companies and found DCT. I immediately liked the overall story of the company. I also enjoyed that it was built by fellow SLPs who could relate to the daily life as well as work-life balance. I realized that I would not just be a number and I knew that I would be cared about as a person.

3.) What has been your favorite thing about teletherapy?

Freedom from an average day and being able to travel the country! Also, it is such a great feeling to wake up and not pack a lunch, put on uncomfortable shoes, or drive in the pouring rain/snow. I'm also amazed when I can put in a load of laundry during the day!

4.) Fill in the blank.  When I’m not working, you’ll most likely find me….

watching movies with my husband, going to beaches, and experiencing new eateries--especially for breakfast.
